About APA Generator
APA Generator is an independent project built by Alejandro Carrillo. It started from a simple frustration: most free citation generators force you to create an account, charge for styles beyond the basic one, or interrupt your flow with aggressive ads — when all anyone actually needs is a correctly formatted citation, fast, with no friction.
How we guarantee accuracy
Every formatting rule in this generator — from how multiple authors are listed to how a citation gets shortened with "et al." — is verified directly against each style's official guide: apastyle.apa.org and Purdue OWL for APA, and the official MLA, Chicago Manual of Style, and Cite Them Right guides for the other 4 styles we cover (MLA, Chicago Notes-Bibliography, Chicago Author-Date, and Harvard). We never copy formatting from another generator or guess.
Every rule has its own automated test that compares the output against a real official example, character by character — over 100 tests run before any change is published. When a rule changes (like it did from APA 6th to 7th edition), that change is documented and explicitly tested, never silently overwritten.
Why it's free and 100% private
All formatting happens in your browser with fixed programming rules — never with an AI model that could invent a detail, and never on a server that receives what you typed. That's what makes it possible to be free with no limit: there's no per-citation cost to cover. The site is supported by discreet advertising, in fixed spaces that never take over the full screen or interrupt while you're generating or copying your citation — see the full detail in the privacy notice.
