Privacy notice
This site does not collect or store the data you enter to generate your citations (author, title, year, DOI, URL...) — all processing happens in your browser and is never uploaded to any server.
We do use three limited mechanisms to know the site is working well and that people find it useful: an anonymous counter (we know a citation was generated, of which source type — book, article, etc. — and in which style — APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard —, plus your language, whether you're on a phone or a computer, and the site that referred you here if you came from an external link; never the content you typed nor your IP address), a technical error-monitoring tool (Sentry) that alerts us if something breaks in your browser, and cookie-free visit analytics (Umami) that counts how many people visit the site and from which country, without identifying you individually or across sites. None of the three ever receives your citation data or your IP.
The only real exception is the error/suggestion report form (at the bottom of the page): if you use it, the message you write (and your email, only if you voluntarily provide it) is sent to our server solely so we can review and fix the issue. It is not used for advertising purposes or shared with third parties.
When this site shows Google AdSense advertising, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to show ads based on your activity on this and other sites. You can adjust your ad preferences at adssettings.google.com.
